Your support goes a long way in the Himalayas. The following categories suggest how your contribution makes the work of the Himalayan Cataract Project possible, whether it is through the gift of cataract surgery, educating local providers, or expanding the eye care network. For more information on any of the projects, please contact us at anytime.
- For only $18 you can restore the gift of sight to a blind person in the Himalaya.
- $4,525 will fund a remote cataract surgery eye camp in Nepal, Tibet, China, Bhutan or Northern India.
- $10,000 will train a surgical team to perform modern cataract surgery.
- $25,000 will fund a complete project—bringing a team to Nepal for training, buying a microscope and surigical equipment, conducting a skills transfer cataract camp, and leaving lenses and equipment for local doctors to handle 500 additional cases.
- $50,000 will establish a primary eye care center, an important innovation as they provide care to the poorest and most unreachable patients.
The Himalayan Cataract Project is one of the world’s most financially efficient international health nonprofits—the organization was recently awarded a 4-star rating by Charity Navigator for "sound fiscal management." Charity Navigator is America's largest independent evaluator of charities (See Financial).
Donation options
There are a number of ways for your donation to reach the Himalayan Cataract Project. You can send a check, donate online with PayPal, gift stock or wire funds. The Himalayan Cataract Project is an independent tax-exempt non-profit organization, classified as a 501(c)3 by the Internal Revenue Code. Your donation is tax-deductible. Donate Online
Online donations to the Himalayan Cataract Project are handled by PayPal, an online service that enables individuals and businesses to securely send and receive payments online. You do not need a PayPal account, and payment is easily made using your credit card or an electronic check.

Gift Stock
The Himalayan Cataract Project accepts gifts of stock, either through an individual or a brokerage firm.
If you have the stock certificate, please do the following:
- Sign a letter stating, I relinquish control of said stock and am signing it over to the Himalayan Cataract Project,
- sign the back of the stock certificate, and
- send it to the Himalayan Cataract Project, PO Box 55, Waterbury, VT 05676.
If the stock is held by a brokerage firm, the transaction can take place electronically between the brokerage firm and our bank. Please contact our office for more detailed information on gifting stock. Email: .
