Greetings,

We have some exciting news to share about both of our Directors. We are pleased to announce that Co-Director Dr. Sanduk Ruit was recently awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Peace and International Understanding for the year 2006. Dr. Ruit is the third Nepali to receive the prestigious Magsaysay award which is widely recognized as Asia's highest honor and referred to as Nobel Prize of Asia. Dr. Ruit is being honored for "placing Nepal at the forefront of developing safe, effective and economical procedures for cataract surgery, enabling the needlessly blind in even the poorest countries to see again." Further information can be found on our website.

Co-Director Dr. Geoff Tabin has been nominated for a Volvo for life Award. In honor of the Volvo for life Awards' 5th Anniversary, the general public is being called upon to select an all-time hero.
