Dr. Geoff Tabin
2005: Pacesetter Award from New York Hospital
Drs. Tabin and Ruit were honored for their humanitarian efforts in treating eye diseases in the poorest mountain villages of Tibet, Sikkim, Bhutan, Himalayan India and Pakistan.
2004: Volvo for Live Award
Dr. Tabin was honored as an individual who “embodies the compassion and leadership central to the core ethics of the medical profession.”
Dr. Sanduk Ruit
2006: Ramon Magsaysay Award for International Understanding
This award, often considered Asia’s Nobel prize, was created in 1957 to commemorate Ramon Magsaysay, the late president of the Philippines, and to perpetuate his example of integrity in government, courageous service to the people, and pragmatic idealism within a democratic society. Dr. Ruit won the award for peace and international understanding for “placing Nepal at the forefront of developing safe, effective and economical procedures for cataract surgery, enabling the needlessly blind in even the poorest countries to see again.”

Royal Nepal Academy of Science Award and the Royal Nepal Academy of Technology Award
Dr. Ruit was recognied for his continuous work for the people of Nepal and other developing countries. This was the first time this award was granted in recognition of surgical achievements.
