Thousands of ophthalmologists from more than 110 countries attended this international affair, which is the longest continuous international medical meeting in the world according to the WOC website. The WOC was designed to address all subspecialties and related interests in ophthalmology with events that include, industry-sponsored symposiums, ICO Quiz, Live Surgery and evening networking opportunities.

In attendance from HCP was HCP Co-Founder and Chairman, Dr. Geoff Tain, HCP CEO, Job Heintz, with presentations by HCP Board Member, Dr. Guy Kezirian, HCP Advisor, Dr. David Chang and HCP Partner, Dr. Daniel Getaneh, the Head of Ophthalmology at Wolaita Sodo University, located in Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples Region of Ethiopia.

Dr. Tabin gave a presentation on HCP and our work to cure needless blindness in low and middle income countries. Dr. Kezirian co-chaired a session on the future of new technologies in refractive surgery. Dr. Getaneh, who HCP has supported throughout his ophthalmology career, authored two papers, the first titled, Clinico-pathological Profile of Retinoblastoma Among Ethiopian Patients and the second, Prevalence and Grading of Trachoma Related Trichiasis Among the Rural Community of Meskan District, South-Central Ethiopia and was selected as an E-poster pod presenter for one.

“The WOC is one of the best scientific conference in ophthalmology and held in the highest esteem. Participating in such a high quality conference was a valuable opportunity to network with international leaders and bring home new learnings to my institution in Ethiopia. The WOC was also an excellent platform to update my knowledge in new and advanced technologies in the field of ophthalmology. It was a great honor to be an author in two papers and E-poster pod presenter in one of them. It was wonderful experience and thank you HCP and their supporters for making this happen!” - Dr. Daniel Getaneh
