International trainees participate in observerships

news | Apr 26, 2017

HCP partner Moran Eye Center hosts two international trainees for observerships.

In April, HCP sponsored two international trainees to participate in month-long observerships at the John A. Moran Eye Center at the University of Utah. Dr. Anima Deshar of the Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology in Nepal trained in techniques specific to glaucoma and neuro ophthalmology, while Dr. Sisay Bekele of Jimma University in Ethiopia focused on retina. Dr. Bekele is in the midst of a year-long retina sub-specialty fellowship. Prior to his time at the Moran, he spent a month at the Wills Eye Institute in Philadelphia, and in June, he will begin his second five-month rotation at Tilganga which will complete his full year-long fellowship.

“Dr. Sisay is doing terrific –he is a delight to have with us.” - Emily Olsen, Moran Eye Center
