HCP in Ethiopia

HCP’s strength is building relationships with existing eye care providers to enhance training capacity and creating world-class infrastructure resulting in high-quality outcomes. HCP’s first partnership in Ethiopia developed in 2008 with Dr. Tilahun Kiros, head ophthalmologist of the Quiha Zonal Hospital in Mekelle, during a cataract campaign that provided 406 surgeries over 4 days.

Today, HCP works with ophthalmic staff at 10 hospitals and clinics in four regions of Ethiopia and the capital, Addis Ababa. Leveraging the strengths of all partners has allowed us to develop a robust eye care delivery system that is making great strides in reducing avoidable blindness in Ethiopia.
