Dr. Benjamin Thomas graduated from Presbyterian College and completed his medical education at the Medical University of South Carolina. Following his internship at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, Dr. Thomas completed his ophthalmology residency at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Florida. He traveled to Ethiopia as a resident, and later joined HCP as one of our Moran Eye Center International Fellows.

During his fellowship, Dr. Thomas traveled to Rwanda, Ethiopia, Nepal, and Ghana and participated in a number of high volume cataract campaigns and working with the retina faculty at the Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology.

Following his international fellowship, Dr. Thomas completed a 2-year retina fellowship at Beaumont Hospital in Detroit, MI and will be joining the staff at the Florida Retina Institute in September 2016.
