After completing his training in ophthalmology at Northwestern University, Dr. David Khorram spent 22 years in the South Pacific developing eye care in the Mariana Islands. In addition to co-founding Marianas Eye Institute, he helped establish programs to build capacity in health care and administration among island residents.From his current home in the Czech Republic, Dr. Khorram serves as Visiting Assistant Professor and Director of Global Ophthalmology at the University of Virginia. He spends much of his time traveling to provide surgical eye care and training, with a focus on Ethiopia and Tajikistan. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and has been listed in Guide to America’s Top Ophthalmologists.Dr. Khorram is the co-founder of Brilliant Star School, a non-profit school on the island of Saipan. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Mona Foundation, Vision Health International, and Partners in Andean Community Health, and is the author of the books, “World Peace, a Blind Wife, and Gecko Tails,” and “Diabetic Eye Disease.”
