Mike Farabaugh is the Institutional Development Officer at the Himalayan Cataract Project, focused on increasing foundation, government, and corporate funding for organizational and country priorities. Previously, he was the Director of Programs at Health Equity International, helping to operationalize funding and programs at the only tertiary referral hospital on the Southern Peninsula of Haiti. Prior to that, Mike was a Senior Advisor at John Snow, Inc. for 13 years, concentrating on HIV projects in Cameroon, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, and Uganda, among many others. In this role he provided strategic and project management expertise, technical and operational direction, and new business development experience.
Before pursuing a graduate degree, Mike lived in Tanzania doing HIV prevention work with at-risk youth; worked in refugee resettlement in Vermont; helped to start and taught science at a charter middle school in Houston; and was a 4th grade Teach For America Corps Member on the Mexican border. He has a BA in History/Anthropology from James Madison University and an MPH in Global Health from Boston University School of Public Health. He lives in Boston with his wife and two children and enjoys biking, paddle boarding, skiing, coaching youth sports, and whatever else his family wants.
